Storm

The ocean breeze so harshly strokes my cheek.
Warm dampened sand morphs in between my toes.
Wave-battered boardwalk stands firm in the wake,
A brewing storm; dark sky; baleful wind blows.

A tiny tug thrashing on the horizon.
Lighthouse beckons, calling, pleading, praying
For safe return of crew and vessel; wizen
Captain! See disaster too-quickly coming!

I see the wave; monstrous, deadly; rise,
A creature from the depths. Helpless victim
Fights in vain; begging freedom. She flies
Headlong, engulfed by the sea; a sight too grim.

Rescue teams their week-long search begin.
No wreckage found; the sea forever lost within.
